Create a Cozy Space

Create a Cozy Space-Bloom-Realty-Krista-Moreno-Seguin-Texas-Real-Estate-Guadalupe-County-Real-Estate-Selling-a-Home-Real-Estate-Market-in-Guadalupe-County

While we experience an occasional cold snap or hard freeze during winter, Guadalupe County isn’t known for long, harsh winters. Even if the temperature outside doesn’t feel wintery for Christmas, here are a few design tricks to make your interior decor look and feel cozy. From decorative rugs to creative texture trends, here are easy ways to create a cozy holiday space.

Candles

Not only will candles add a warm glow to your space in the most flattering light, but they will also warm your senses with your favorite holiday aroma! Candles will offer the ambiance and coziness of winter indoors, even if you don’t need a jacket to go outdoors. Of course, you should never leave burning candles unattended or in the path of children, pets, or any flammable items, and it’s best to use clean-burning soy wax options instead of paraffin when possible.

Curtains

A home without window treatments is like living in a fishbowl with zero privacy or security. It also makes the space feel unlived in and cold. Warm-toned curtains are a simple way to create a cozy space. They offer a pop of color over blinds or window panels while creating a comfy holiday ambiance. If it does get cold outside, curtains will also provide a physical barrier from the chill or draft that can get through older windows. If you’re worried about the curtain rod causing large holes in your walls, leave it up year-round and use a lightweight translucent sheer during spring and summer.

Rugs

Area rugs add color, texture, and warmth to any room. They help define spaces in an open-concept home and keep the echo of chatter at bay. The most crucial element of an area rug is the padding underneath. High-quality padding will extend the rug’s life by reducing wear and tear, and it feels incredible underfoot!

Texture

Texture equals warmth. Adding a plush blanket or two to your sofa, favorite chair, or over an ottoman will instantly create a cozy space. Textured throw pillows are another great way to add dimension and warmth to any room. They are less expensive than new furniture if your taste changes, and they are easy to swap out with the seasons.

Bare surfaces make a house feel more like a showroom than a place where people live. Adding pops of color and texture will add warmth and style throughout your home and create a cozy space for friends and family to gather!
