Hottest Kitchen Trends for 2023-Bloom-Realty-Krista-Moreno-Seguin-Texas-Real-Estate-Guadalupe-County-Real-Estate-Selling-a-Home-Real-Estate-Market-in-Guadalupe-County

Kitchens are typically the heart of a home and often the first room homeowners choose to upgrade or renovate.  Whether it’s a smaller-scale project, like painting the cabinets, or something bigger, like opening up the floor plan, there are several options that can make a kitchen look more modern and up-to-date.  The popular design inspiration site, Houzz.com recently surveyed over 2,000 homeowners to reveal the hottest kitchen trends for 2023.

Recessed Lights

According to the survey, recessed lights are the most popular lighting trend this year.  Seventy-two percent of survey respondents said they prefer recessed lights in the kitchen, as well as undercabinet lights.  Gone are the days of bulky fluorescents, which will undoubtedly turn off homebuyers in today’s market.

Cabinet Doors

While Shaker-style cabinet doors remain the most popular choice for kitchens, flat-panel doors are trending up as minimal kitchen design continues to gain popularity.  Before investing in all new cabinets, remember that trends come and go, and sometimes a simple hardware upgrade will suffice.  Bar pulls are the most popular option among the homeowners surveyed, with 72 percent of respondents favoring their sleek design. Thirty-four percent of respondents opted for classic knobs, and cup pulls came last as hardware from the past.

Cabinet Color

According to the study, white cabinets remain the most popular choice in renovated kitchens.  Lighter, natural wood-tone cabinets are increasingly popular, while survey respondents remained indifferent to medium-tone and dark wood finishes.  Again, before rushing out and buying new cabinetry, remember that cabinet color is an ever-evolving trend that changes quickly.

Technology Evolution

Many homeowners have been upgrading the technology in their kitchens to include docking stations, wireless speakers, and smart home devices such as Google Nest or Alexa products.  Faucets with features like water efficiency, touch-only, or touch-free activation have gained in popularity this year, with 51 percent of homeowners favoring these high-tech features.

Open Layouts

While open kitchen layouts have remained popular among homeowners, the survey found an added emphasis on indoor-outdoor living among respondents. When opening kitchens to the outdoors, the most popular design trend is a double door system or a row of doors that open independently to bring the outside in and vice versa.

Sustainability

The Houzz survey found that sustainability is more popular than ever, with 92 percent of homeowners incorporating sustainable features during a kitchen remodel.  These features include LED bulbs, energy-efficient appliances and windows, and water-efficient fixtures.  Homeowners are choosing sustainable options for their environmental friendliness and long-run cost-effectiveness.

Knowing popular kitchen trends can be beneficial if you’re putting your house on the market and want it to appeal to today’s buyers.  But if you’re upgrading the kitchen of a home you know you’re going to live in for years to come, it’s best to opt for a timeless design that will remain impervious to the ebb and flow of style trends.  For more ways to keep your listings fresh or if you need help finding your forever home, email me at krista@bloomrealtytx.com or call me at 830.305-5248.  I am here for you and always happy to help!
